As a distribution business we’re acutely aware of the impact that business has on the environment at local and global levels. Because we put our money where our mouth is though, we make sure every aspect of our day-to-day work is as ‘green’ as it can be. At Suma it’s an ongoing mission to find ways to reduce our environmental impact through innovation, technology, smarter working regimes and by supporting specialist agencies committed to protecting the natural world. Here are some of the steps we’ve taken. If there’s something you think we should add, we’re always open to suggestion.
For some years now we've used electricity from renewable sources. Recently we've cut our consumption further by installing drop-voltage warehouse lighting and movement-sensitive office lighting that turns the light off when you leave the room.
We’ve planted more than 8,000 trees in the past two years and, in association with local not-for-profit concern, Treesponsibility, have managed to achieve ‘Carbon Neutral’ status.
The Toyota Prius our account managers share uses Toyota’s pioneering ‘Hybrid Synergy Drive’ technology. This translates as ‘miserly fuel consumption that switches to self-replenishing electrical power at low speeds.’
